I just finished watching B.Hussein Obama's profile on Fox News---it scares me to think what our country is blindly entering. So, while i was doing some of my own research, I stumbled here, my next must-read....this book Godless by Ann Coulter has struck my interest....i might have to run over to BAM and get it....interesting b/c liberalism is a religion....hmmmm...what do you think? While studying the Truth Project, I have realized, as a Christian, how big the need is for us to be proactive---to know WHY we believe WHAT we believe. It's scary what will happen in a Godless culture.....and it will happen when God-fearing people do nothing.
ABOUT THIS BOOK
"If a martian landed in America and set out to determine the nation's official state religion, he would have to conclude it is liberalism, while Christianity and Judaism are prohibited by law. Many Americans are outraged by liberal hostility to traditional religion. But as Ann Coulter reveals in this, her most explosive book yet, to focus solely on the Left's attacks on our Judeo-Christian tradition is to miss a larger point: liberalism is a religion—a godless one.And it is now entrenched as the state religion of this country.Though liberalism rejects the idea of God and reviles people of faith, it bears all the attributes of a religion. In Godless, Coulter throws open the doors of the Church of Liberalism, showing us its sacraments (abortion), its holy writ (Roe v. Wade), its martyrs (from Soviet spy Alger Hiss to cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal), its clergy (public school teachers), its churches (government schools, where prayer is prohibited but condoms are free), its doctrine of infallibility (as manifest in the "absolute moral authority" of spokesmen from Cindy Sheehan to Max Cleland), and its cosmology (in which mankind is an inconsequential accident). Then, of course, there's the liberal creation myth: Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. For liberals, evolution is the touchstone that separates the enlightened from the benighted. But Coulter neatly reverses the pretense that liberals are rationalists guided by the ideals of free inquiry and the scientific method. She exposes the essential truth about Darwinian evolution that liberals refuse to confront: it is bogus science.Writing with a keen appreciation for genuine science, Coulter reveals that the so-called gaps in the theory of evolution are all there is—Darwinism is nothing but a gap. After 150 years of dedicated searching into the fossil record, evolution's proponents have failed utterly to substantiate its claims. And a long line of supposed evidence, from the infamous Piltdown Man to the "evolving" peppered moths of England, has been exposed as hoaxes. Still, liberals treat those who question evolution as religious heretics and prohibit students from hearing about real science when it contradicts Darwinism. And these are the people who say they want to keep faith out of the classroom?Liberals' absolute devotion to Darwinism, Coulter shows, has nothing to do with evolution's scientific validity and everything to do with its refusal to admit the possibility of God as a guiding force. They will brook no challenges to the official religion.Fearlessly confronting the high priests of the Church of Liberalism and ringing with Coulter's razor-sharp wit, Godless is the most important and riveting book yet from one of today's most lively and impassioned conservative voices."Liberals love to boast that they are not 'religious,' which is what one would expect to hear from the state-sanctioned religion. Of course liberalism is a religion. It has its own cosmology, its own miracles, its own beliefs in the supernatural, its own churches, its own high priests, its own saints, its own total worldview, and its own explanation of the existence of the universe. In other words, liberalism contains all the attributes of what is generally known as 'religion.'" —From Godless

There are many views of such matters and your is but one. To label liberals as godless is just plain dumb when surveys find so great a percentage of liberals to be believers in god. Why you take Coulter's nonsense with such seriousness boggles the mind. She is intentionally provocative and, alas, filled with venom--is that doing god's work?
When I was young I believed in God, the tooth fairy, santa claus--then I grew up and realized that such stuff is what parents tell children till they are old enough to see it is all nonsense.
I have spent many years loving the classics. Does that mean that the Greeks and Romans all did not go to heaven because they were not christians? what sort of silly god is that?
Listen: Asking whether God exists or not is the most important question you can ask youself, and finding the answer takes years, sometimes decades if you've been steeped in one particular tradition since childhood. But for those who are able to break free of the mythology and recognize it for what it is, life takes on a heady sacredness and crucial importance that only the atheist can appreciate. It feels truly wonderful and so much more meaningful to be free of the God concept. Realizing that we are responsible for creating our own purposes and meanings is a vastly richer experience than simply falling back on the bronze-age concept of "obey the unexplainable scary force." And yes, it's great when damaged people turn their lives around, but it's too bad when they think they have to attach all that unnecessary God baggage to do it. We're only here for a short time, and to spend our lives planning for heaven is the worst possible thing we can do. Time has marched along for all eternity, and it will march along for all eternity after. In the middle, you get 80 quick years to be conscious. Please don't waste the tiny sliver of life you have on Earth because you somehow think you're going to get another one. You're not. One per customer, please, and enjoy it to the fullest; morally, ethically and completely.
Anne is brilliant, caustic, brave and anything she has written is worth the read. She makes the rounds on all the talk shows when she has a new book...so be watching. She is beautiful but very skinny!
If anonymous wishes...please go to Ravi Zacharias-Let My People Think...the audio post for September 8th is remarkable. I believe you and he are quoting the same person.
Amen, Ed's Girl!!!!
whoa! "me thinks the 'person' doth protest too much". i have to laugh that of all my posts, all i had to do was mention my God and watch out...I must have struck a nerve...(so this book must be worth the read):)...you anonymous people must be paid big as blog commentators to push your agenda.
Yes,I realize Coulter is highly controversial and I never said that she was doing "god's work" or that I thought all liberals were godless or that I even fully agree with her,but I believe as a follower of Christ it is my privilige to stand up for what i know to be true...yes,Biblical principles, and I believe a Godless culture is one step closer to the fall of our country.
I don't appreciate the childlike referrals...but i will embrace them b/c I am proud to have a "simple childlike faith" in the one and only true God. I'm sorry that some of you have no faith...how sad. I know one day "every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord" (including yours)(Phil.2:10-11--read it,the Bible)(while you're there, research it, it's all true) What is serious is taking God out of the equation. I am not "steeped in a childhood tradition"--my God is real and personal to me, a relational God--He bottles up my tears and knows the count of every hair on my head and has a plan for my every day--you wouldn't understand unless you knew Him and believe Him to be true. (Luke 24:45)
My God is not "an unexplainable scary force" but your existence w/o an eternity in sight is. He is a God of love--sorry that somewhere along you journey you have been misled. How sad to think that you are here to just blow your life away and then what? That is hopeless and empty.
Tell me this, "what do I lose if you are right and I'm wrong?" Nothing. But,if I am right, you are gambling everything.
Thanks for the thoughts--that was fun :)
and P.S. I don't put God in a category with the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, or Greek classics---I teach my kids the truth about God--that there is a big difference btwn fiction and nonfiction and a faith in something TRUE. The Bible is nonfiction and God-breathed. He is real and so is eternity--you can't sway me. I can't wait to meet my Maker in Heaven one day.
Please, you sound like intelligent thinkers--get the Truth Project and sift your thoughts there--why not?
better yet,ask God if He is real? why not? :)
I found it but it is only audio...listen...it is the exact words of your anonymous, I am sure they are quoting the same person Ravi refers to in today's program. Can you post the audio link?
It is the first one listed and dated September 8. This is his shorter program that is on at noon.

the anonymous existential thinkers here must still be searching for their meaning here on earth...you must not have hit your lowest low yet where you will beg for there to be a God...when you do, b/c you will, try God...He will make Himself known to you. Otherwise, you would consider taking your life b/c why not--s/times life gets too hard and if we have no purpose--then what is the point? The God card fills that empty hole and completes you...with hope and purpose for your future.
As a Christian who identifies as a liberal, I am saddened by your post. It's pretty low to call someone "Godless" merely because they hold a different political belief than you.
My faith MAKES me liberal. I believe that we, as privileged people, have a responsibility to help others. I believe in equality. That's how Jesus walked, and that's where I find my greatest faith.
Before judging the political party that you call "Godless," please stock your library with books that are better-researched and non-extremist.
Please keep in mind that this country was founded on the basis of separation of Church and state.
