VT Massacre

My heart and prayers go out to all of these families w/casualties involved in this school shooting. I can't imagine all the heartbreak ahead for so many today. What sick kind of evil would posess s/o to do s/thing like this? My husband is a graduate of Virginia Tech and is in complete shock. Something like this could happen anywhere and it makes me hold my kids a little closer once again. God bless the people who are closest to this tragedy...so sad.

I am in shock about it too. There are no words to describe the horror. Hindsight is 20/20 but I can't believe after the 1st shooting they didn't alert the campus! My prayers go out to the families affected by this terrible tragedy.

i still can't understand why they weren't under lockdown at notice of the first shooting either--that's just senseless. My MIL was tearing up just thinking about how those parents must be so worried remembering when Ed was at school there.scary.

Ed must be in shock, seeing his campus besieged with all this coverage of the tragedy. It's just so sad.

i am with you. but you have to make sure to keep in mind the killer is to blame for all of this happening. unfortunately we will end up blaming someone else (ie. the school) for not doing more or doing something that, to us, doesn't make sense. remember, this whole thing is a senseless tragedy. the president of the school never knew this day was coming....they did send over 3500 emails out right away to the student body. also they locked down the dorm and secured the streets around the dorm. all the authorities were meeting and discussing what exactly needed to be done when the second round of shootings took place. at the time they thought it was an isolated incident.

unfortunately now, they will be effective if, God forbid, something like this ever happens again. when an event makes history, that means it has never happend before in this capacity or at this level. seems to me, using the tools they had...like email....was an effective tool. i'm not saying only email, but nobody saw the second round of shootings coming 2 hours later.

only the killer.

Ed is holding all his loyalty w/ Tech,of course. We have our VT flag flying out front and he wore his VT polo shirt to work today--it is sad and weird to see all this happen there and they keep showing Cochrane Hall where he lived on campus which runs just adjacent to AJ(first shooting)dorm. It's unfortunate that now "Blacksburg" will take on a new remembrance d/t this freak incident. I do however, believe that when the first shooting occured and a "smoking gun" wasn't in custody w/ two bodies---they should have sounded alarms and immediately put the campus under lockdown---the killer wrote a 8-pg letter during that time! (which i am posting on now)
